Hello people!

So I just upgraded to the new iOS 5 and wanted to test the new blogger app... And this is it!

Since I can do this on my phone now I'll try to post more of my stuff about games and such.

Very soon i'll be also updating my deviantart with more art from recent games. All I can say is that I'm now working in two new games one of them is schedule to be out before Christmas.

New games are out!

So people, what you all be doing? Oh me?... I've been doing nothing much... Just playing the hell of my new games!!!

Actually I've been working a lot since I got back to work but it paied of with two brand new games out now. So let's get to it!

The first one is CRAZY RANCH wich is a game based on the great life of ranch cowboys after all there cattle was scatered by an invading alien army. So it is your job to find them and bring them to the curral. Yeah it's nothing much... except that the aliens are still out there! Eheheh!

The second one is a small puzzle game named CRAZY HARBOUR. This one was already released some time ago but got a brand new "face-lift" and additional 80 more levels and a lot of other surprises.

The reason I'm posting this here on my blog is simple... I designed all the games and even edited some of the levels. I hope you go check them out, play them and tell me what you think!

We're trying to make these has much fun has we can so your opinion is very, very, very veeeeeeeeeeeeery important. Who knows? Maybe some day I'll be playing your games!

Vacations are (officially) over

The view from my vacation apartment

Well here I am back at my place now. I just spend three weeks in a new apartment and I really loved it. It was near the river and ocean, in a quiet neighborhood with lots of natural sunlight. I spend my days on the beach, eating out, playing games and catching up on my reading So yeah... I really digged my vacations there, and it also helped me realize how much work I was doing before going on vacations.

So now I'm back at the office, with new projects, some new games and a a toon of work. But if all goes well I may be moving out defenetly by end of the year. Who knows... life changing moment coming?!

Captain America - The First Avenger

WOOOOOOOOOWWW!

Have you seen this movie? Have you? Then what are you wainting for? Get to a theater and do it already... you will not regreat it!

So... remember my Harry Potter review that suffer from high expectations? Well here was just the oposite. I mean this is the second Marvel Avenger movie this year after THOR (wich was amazing by the way) and the main character - Chris Evans - was already the Human Tourch on, not one, but two Fantastic Four movies... so yeah! I was a little bit more than apreencive.

But boy was I wrong!

You get some of that "first-time" felling you got when you saw the first Spider-Man movie. The young man who gets it's super powers not really knowing if he's readdy to be a hero. Only this time, instead of a spider bite, you get a second world war military secret project.

The movie has a good story, a great second world war environment, Chris Evans makes a good deal again has a super hero, and the director (Joe Johnston) was even smart to make a nice transaction between the funny galland, easy going "human tourch" persona to the more calm, serious, focused "captain america" hero. This is a great movie. No, this is an awesome movie. No, this is an epic war superhero movie.

A avengeful 5 out of 5!

Look! It's Harry Potter... Again!

Hya people! How you all be doing?

I'm on vacations now so I finally got some time to update my blog. And this is one review that I just had to do. Harry Potter grand finally... Good? Great? or not really?

Well... the movie is really good action wise and keeps you on the edge of your seat a lot of the times. New monsters, awesome sets, new rides and more magic than you can master. Finally the romance between two of the major characters comes to life and the war agains Voldemort comes to an end, but the felling I got when the credits rool was... Is this it?!

Yeah, I mean seven movies were made of this, SEVEN! And in the end you get exactly what you could get in the beginning. Harry is the hero, Voldemort the villain, same allies, same enemies it's almost the same movie... seven times over. To me (and I'm sorry for all you Harry Potter fans out there) but I was expecting a lot more. I wanted the LOR killer, the 2012 Nulifier, the Star Wars Matrix rival, but all I got was a "nice" movie. Nothing more, nothing less.

I guess I just suffered from high expectations on this. Anyway the movie is the best "magic-action" movie I've seen.

Bastion - Launch Trailer

The Final trailer of this cool looking awesome game is out. It's a shame it's only reported for X-Box Live but who knows a Playstation Network version will be out in the future. Loved the concept, history and (of course) the hand-drawn "cartoon" look.

After the runt hate critic of the last movie I was really apreencive about a new "Transformers" film. But all these fear, I believe, are unfounded.

Transformers 3 - Dark of Moon, follow the exact same recepie that lead the other two installements to blockbuster lists. It has a kid in the middle of an alien mechanic invasion, a beautifull girl (sorry Megan Fox but you got bitch slaped there) and more CG action than you can fit in a 3 hour or so movie.

The first half of the movie is all laughs and gigles that almost makes you forget that this is a Michael Bay movie... but don't let that fool ya. The second half an entire city gets blown to bits and there are more robot on screen that you can name, all of them with a siceable amout of fire power on there hands.

Robots, humans, guns and girls all around a GREAT full action movie! I saw it and I reccomend it to all the those testosterone filled guys out there. You can take you your girl if you'll like... but I wouldn't recomend it!

Ok so this post is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaayy over do. But what can I say I've been busy!

This is the forth installment of the series and "Captain" Jack Sparrow is back in business. Some of our old favorites are back as well such as Captain Barbossa (now on her majesty service) and private Gibbs with the addiction of the love interest of Penelope Cruz - a formes nun that Jack "misled her ways".

This is a real entertaining and fun movie but it lacks the real punch and flow of the previews movies. You cans still see it and enjoy it... but you'll miss the drama and depth of the other films.

Still... LOADS of fun! Argh!

Is this a great movie? Is this a super movie? Is this an awesome movie?... No. This is absolutly one of the most kick-ass movies I have ever seen in a while!

Remenber those movies full of guns, explosion, adrenaline, cars, gasoline, gags, humor and sexy ladys that made us shew popcorn like a machine?... This is one of those movies.

The best of the series no doubt! Solid argument, great cast, awesome action... what could one ask more?

OOOOOH YEAH!!!

"You will not withstand the mighty of Thor!" Remenber that frase? Yeah me neihter... Thor altough he is a good on earth he never seem to ge the attention or acclaim that most other Avengars did. He was kind of that goofy heavy viking metal looking guy that did a lot of thunder but besides of that never got to be a real protagonist in the series.

Of course I'm talking nonsense... When I was younger I remenber a great story of Thor that involved the sword of doom (I can't really tell anymore) that when doomsday was upon us that sword was gonna be used to destroy the Universe itself. I was kinda of hopping for that here too... but hey when on a different direction.

So the movie? The movie is just awesome! Not only did it looked good but it read and flow really well with the dinamic plot and action. I was really surprised because after Robert "Ironman" Downey Jr. taking the marvel movies so high people (like myself) has really dubious expectations. And tankfully we needded not to worry.

Only thing missing in the movie is a bigger plot. The action divulges between Asgard and Earth and the Universe is not really at stake. however it introduces a great evil meany... Loky, portraied by Tom Hiddleston, is definetly an actor to expect great (Evil) things in the future.

A most surprising 5 out of 5! (",)

Hya folks,

I'm on my well earned vacations now so I have a little more time to relax and rest. And of course movie going was top of the menu. This time I went to see Source Code and I must say I really liked it!

I already liked Jake Gyllenhaal on Prince of Persia and I really though he look really good doing action movies. Although this is not a action movie it has a lot of action and a really decent plot to it. Being a movie goer for a long time, you might figure out the movie half way (as did I) but you still enjoy the premiss and wait for the revelation in the end.

I liked! I reccomend it! I enjoyed it!

Sucker Punch Movie Review

Hyah folks!

Just here with another review of my latest movie. This time... Sucker Punch!

Sooo... Zack Snider, babes, boobs, guns, swords, explosions, fun right?!... Well, not really. Behind the great action sequences, the babes, the various universes and the all tourning 360º degree camera, there is a very shallow, not easy to follow, matrix versus inception story.

Zack Snider wanted to put a lot of elements in to one movie... but he f**ked up! If he wanted to do the movie inside a movie thing, he should have made another movie for that and not on this one.

I was expecting (after the great comic adaptation of Watchmen) a movie back to the 300 theme. All out action! Instead I got a drama/action/fantasy/psicotic movie and, for my part, it was "mehw!".

If he had kept it more simple the story might have had one or a few bumps but it would be ok. Instead you get the felling that the trailer, and animations short-movies, prep you up for something complete different.

The only thing that I really liked about the movie is the awesome concept design but is not enought to make you feel that the ride was worth it. In the end you'll feel just has I felt (not in a good way mind you)... Sucker-Punched!

Yeah that's right! I've finally made my games come out for my recent development company AppGeneration. I can´t really divulge all my latest projects but the first four (that's right four) are right HERE.

I did all the design on the games and worked with some very talented programers to made it all work. We're all very exited with this but I realize I'm still "learning the ropes" so I hope the next projects will be even better. Give them a go and feel free to coment on my blog, twitter or deviant.

I'm really hyped about all this and there will be more coming soon I garan-damn-te it!

Ok guys,

So this review is a little bit over do. I saw this movie about two weeks ago and only found time now to review it. In a nut shell?... Loved it!

The concept is not new, since it's a remake of a 80's movie by the same name, where a computer scientist is "beemed" inside a computer. Now in the 80's, computer generated animation was really just starting off but this remake really surprised me.

It's entertaining, it's fun, and it connects really well with the first one. The designs are really great and the 3D also helps of course. Go check it out!

New Year's Resolution... 2011

Hya folks!

So how was your new year eve? Mine was same old stuff. A lot of plans but none of it ever comes to effect because people tend to let others "take the lead" on planning something fun and then "tag along for the ride" on the party. So yeah... it was a nice evening with the family!

About 2010, I can't say it was a bad year... on the contrary. I finished college, got a gold medal at martial arts championship, had a great job proposal (more than one actually, and where I am now) and I even had a little bit of romance too (didn't work out but still...). The thing is I had to do almost everything by myself. No help, no pause, no break, just work, work, work and stress, stress, stress, then romance, then work , work, work, and more stress.

I know what your thinking "well... at least it payed off, right?!" The thing is I'm a very complicaded piece of hardware and I tend to only believe in things that are finished, not in things that are ongoing or unfinished. So yeah, it was good year but I payed a heavy price for it believe me!

And what do I expect now from 2011?... I expect it to be more work, but less stress and more love. Some time to get back at myself. I need a little time to relax, recharge my batteries and come back clean and new. There is a lot of things going through my mind for this year but the main focus are:

My own space. My own house, with my on things on it and my own schedule. That means more work of course but at least a better reward at the end. ;)
Get back to training. I love to practice martial arts, but the last few year I've been a little slacker than usual. I want to get back to top form. Before Summer I hope! :p
Take more chances at love. I know this may seem corny and not very "serious" but believe me this is one of the hardest things I have yet to accomplish. I'm just saying I'm gonna try to be more "open" to love. Who knows... maybe it's this year! (or not :D)

To make it short: Money, Health and Love... I guess that's all you can ask for!

I hope your year will be all that you want and desire! I'm gonna try my best (as I always do) and will see what the future olds for me.

Shadow Guardian launch trailer

As I have been saying the iPhone and iPad will (in a very near future) the leading mobile entertainment gadgets in the market. After Infinity Blade and Eternal Legacy (a Final Fantasy look-a-like) it's time for a Uncharted look-a-like. The game looks like a copy of the original Uncharted series but what strikes me is that it looks really solid, although I'm not sure gameplay wise.

I guess well have to wait 'till December 16 to find out!

Retired Extremely Dangerous.

This was one of the most entertaining movies I had the fortune of seeing this year. Funny, action orientaded, well written, better acted movie I have ever seen. Tha fact that it comes from a comic and that has the brilliant presence of some of the most top actors in Hollywood also helped.

Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman and the always umpredictable John Malkovich deliver one of the most aewsome movies this year. My advice... Go see it! You won't regret it! There's nothing new to the formula but that's just the kick. Fun all the way!

People I tried and I tried but there is just no sense in it. I can't make a fan page for my Ironwill Blog and Youtube Channel.

I mean I can... They just don't work!

The fan page first didn't accept my profile on facebook and then it didn't accept my posts from my blog throw networkblogs. The YouTube was even worse, it simply denied posting anyhting I did on my Ironwill channel to my facebook fan page.

It took me about 2 to 3 hours to try and make it work but I just could do it so finally I just gave up. That's what you get for having "split web real life personality". LOL!

I guess you'll just have to keep readin my posts here and o my "real" facebook page.

Just though you should now how much I care for you guys!

Infinity Blade

Okei...

So as most of you now should now I'm a game designer now and I work majorly with the iPhone, iPod and iPad platform. This one caught my attention just for that reason!

Infinity Blade is said to run the Unreal Engine (you do know Unreal Tournament right?) on an iPhone and it's looking really good. Don't delieve me? Well take a look!

It's a real pleasure to see the real potencial of the Apple devices taken to their limit. I know most people only see the iPhone has a "Angry Birds", "Cut the Rope" games (which are fine games by the way) but I kinda prefer to see it as the next portable gaming device.

Can't wait to play it! (",)

Reminds me of the Wakfu, Dofus trailers but here with a anime Breath of Fire 4 twist. I really like the visual and if it plays as good as it looks it's gonna be great!

World Economic Crisis... in a nut shell.

Hya folks,

It seems everybody now's talking about the new found World Economic Crisis (WEC). Some experts say this was a catastrofy waiting to happen, others that this is part of the economy cicle and that sooner or later eveything will pass and be ok. Since everybody seems to have an opinion and/or some one to blame for this problem, I decided to get my two cents in as well.

There are 3 sides envolved in this crisis that everybody seems to agree. The economists and/finacial, the politicians, and the media/communications. Let's start with the first one.

Economists

Do you remember the Enron case? A big multinacional energy company that lost all it's money in shady investments and then bribed the audition company's to tell everything was ok? Yeah! We should have guessed right there that something was not right in the world of business. Anyway... that same problem originated a few year later with the banks and financial companies. Basically they were making investments with money they didn't had, and when the people starting asking for there money for real, banks and finantial institutions started to pull all the credits from the people who didn't had it. But who were they lending there money to? Well... we'll get to that in a minute.

Politicians

Basically the politicians were all caught by surprise. You see, when a big company wants to make a big investment without there being to much red tape, they basically bribe (or loobie) a polititian or head of state to make the deal go smothly. The politician says his "working on behalf of the people" and gets a cut of that sweet deal (to his pocket of course). So when the politicians started to ear that the companies where going down because of the business that they supposedly mediated, people started to wonder just what was the deal with the people that new what was going on and didn't take mesures to ensure that it didn't blow up on their face. That takes us to the media.

Media

Ok, so where is a scoop for you. The media doesn't tell the truth! The media say's what the sources say. If the source doesn't speak (because basically it's not obligaded to do so) the media has no means of knowing what's happening and even if it did, they don't have evidence of anything unless someone goes public with it. So the media is the spokes person of the companies that provide them with information, being that finantial, economic or political. The media is saying what the goverment and institutions want them to say! I should know... I was doing that just a few months ago. It's not ilegal or shady, it's just the way it is. When a company has a new product or event and they want the media to be there, they simply ask the media to come and they may (or may not) buy into that. But when it's the goverment or people with power, the media doesn't take the chance 'not to' come because later they might need some information and that source won't speak to it.

I must say I'm not a economist, or a politician or even an "expert" of anykind. What I am is an artist that has tried to thrive in a word that sees money before future and looks to the immediate profit than the long all run. I've worked in media communications and public institutions and I've been there when they make a decision on going with something public or not. And the company always comes first!

So what can I say about the WEC? Three things:

1. Everyhting is business - Nobody does anything for free. Being the new hibrid cars, the new company that says it has the best profit in two years, even when you see Angelina Jolie given help on South Africa, somebody, somewhere is paying for her trip and food at least. Time is money and no big company or institution gives there time away without getting something in return.

2. Politicians are liars - You might thing "that goes without saying!" but remenber they are publicly-elected-professional-liars. So when you start thinking "hey, this guy's saying some thruths about politics! I should vote for him!" think before why is he saying that, at that time. Think what has happend in the world of finance or business for him to say that. Look at Obama! He had some pretty darn hard ideas but with a 7 billion (or something) election campaing, that means he also had 7 billion (or something) reasons NOT to make other ideias come to life.

3. Don't believe the press - As I have said before they say what the sources say. And sometimes souces are "publicaly-elected-professional-liars" and they make a business of liying.

So now you're probably wondering what was the reason for the crisis itself? If the world already worked like that so many years, why did it only happend now? Well I'll tell my theory...

CHINA!

China is now the largest faster growing economy of the world. It has 1/4 of the world population so that's a lot of people possibly buying a lot of stuff. There is just one snag in the plan: China doesn't use banks or the so called "virtual money". Everything is cash up front (and sometimes you even have to bargain for the price). So now imagine a big multinational company want's to pay a chinsese company with actions, bonds or somekind of "virtual payment". China doesn't work like that! So when china started to ask for her money's worth... companies all around the globe started to pull there resource funds to pay, and what did they found out?

There was no money! It was all zero's and one's in some bank or financial institution somewhere.

Ense... WORLD ECONOMIC CRISIS!

Manga and Anime Merchandise at Iber Anime 2010

Nobody is too old for anime man! I used to love it, I still love it and I will always love it, so when I heard it was gonna be a the first Anime/Otaku convencion in my town well.... I just had to go. And I did!

And let me tell you I was impressed by the number of people who are like me here. Anime is not a very popular thing here and Cosplay and Otaku merchandise even less and I thought there just maybe there were gonna be some high school kids and not much more. Boy was I wrong! There were not only a lot of people, but also lots of shops with lots and lots of stuff that most times you only find on the internet.

Cup Noodles. Hum... :P

Manga, Anime, Cosplay, J-POP, japanese classes, shonen and shojo merchandise everything was there. I even got the chance to flavour Cup Noodles. I already tried it when I went to China, 3 year ago, and I was missing it quite a lot. Chiken Flavor... hummmmm!

I didn't get to buy anything because I already had most of the stuff that was there and even book wise it was a little outdated if you'ved been updated. Still it was a nice incentive and I hope it continues every year with more and more stuff.

Yeah people!

So... I haven't had a lot of time to dedicate to my blog because I've been really really busy with my new job as a game designer. I can't tell you what I'm working on but there are at least projects for five games in the making, all design by yours truly.

Because I'm still learning the ropes of the trade, don't expect no Final Fantasy's yet (LOL). But maybe in a year or two I'll get there.

I'm also working on changing the apperance of this blog (again) because I'm not really satisfied with it yet.

In the mean time... keep a look out for my twittter and deviant art sites, since it's probably the ones I'll be updating more.

Can you say awesome?! Can you say fun?! Can you say comedy? Can you say all-out-action?! Good... Because that's exactly what your gonna get!

If you've enjoyed the series this is for you people! If not... I bet you'll still enjoy it too. The spin on some characters are really good, the story is very well adaptaded to the reality of now... I mean everything is good about it.

I especially liked the twist on Coronel Hannibal personality. In the series is fun but in this movie is much more than that... But I won't ruin the fun of you find out what that is.

A good, solid movie from an old classic. 4 out of 5! (",)

I saw this movie early in september and I thought maybe it's not gonna be all that good... boy was I wrong!

This is not a reboot or a remake, this is a spin-off story from the same universe and it's quite good actually. The characters are great, the story is solid and the run down Adrian Brody looks the part it's playing (not bad for an academy awarded actor).

If your hoping for action, blood and a great fun this is for you. But, of course, it's not for eveyone!

Praias de areia branca... e uns pés pretos! :p

Olá pessoal!

Desculpem lá não ter dado muitas notícias mas estive fora naquelas que foram, sem dúvida, as melhores férias de sempre (até hoje... eheheh).

Eu e o meu irmão fomos passar uma semana às Ilhas Canárias e adoramos, bem... tudo! O tempo, as praias, as pessoas, a comida, o hotel e las niñas (pois claro!), foi tudo do bom e do melhor.

Os nossos dias foram passados entre a praia, a piscina, os restaurantes e o sol... Muito, muito sol! Depois de um mês de Agosto um pouco complicado, foi bom puder ter assim uma semana sem nada de stresses e compromissos. Isso sim são férias!

Havia gente de toda a Europa: Inglaterra, Alemanha, Espanha, Portugal, Polónia, Itália (nada de novo para quem está habituado a passar férias nestes locais) mas gosto de ver como durante o período de férias parece que todos tiram um tempo das suas vidas e durante uma semana somos todos "cidadãos do mundo".

Muitos sorrisos, muita música, actividades, espectáculos e longos tempos no mar e na piscina. Foi una maravilla que espero poder repetir mais vezes nos próximos anos.

My friends... my friends!

This is absolutely a must see movie for all anime fans all over the world. If you know the series you know what to expect story wise (and with some surprises I might add), if you don't well... I guess it's your loss and you better go look for the first DVD of this new series.

This is the way that Evangelion should have been made back in the days. But now, with the improved techonoloy and layout design I mean, it just took it to a whole new level. The animation is better than anything I have ever seen on TV, or Cinema for that matter. The action is all envolving and the concepts are all revised and improved.

In two words... FREAKING AWESOME!!! The best anime movie of this year no doubt! You gotta see it to believe it!

A very well deserved 5 out of 5! (",)

Hya People!

Yeah vacations have this thing of free time and with so much on my hands I still found time to catch up on my DVD viewing. And here it is the 10th movie of One Piece!

Once more we follow the adventures of Luffy and his nakama (that's crew for all you non japanese folks). This time they're trapped in a floating island to rescue one of their own. But this is no ordinary "floating" island, oh no! These islands are full of the most awesome and killer monsters there is. But have no fear cause "rubber man" Luffy will save the day.

I really enjoyed this movie. The story is nice and flowy and the characters are all good but what really stands out of this movie are the most highly coreographed fights I have ever seen in animation. The X-Men and the Avengers can kiss my ass if they could fight as good as these guys!

Great story, great art, awesome mid air kick ass fights, what more could you ask?!

A solid 4 out of 5 no doubt! (",)

Oi pessoal!

Sim eu fui ver este filme e como muitos de voz estão agora a pensar "Meu Deus como é possível?!" Pois bem, é muito possível tanta que o fui ver. LOOL!

Como a maioria de vocês eu não tinha grande expectativas em relação a este filme: Meia dúzia de actores de acção acabados (ou sem trabalho) nos dias de hoje, estrelas da WWE e da UFC que sabem tanto de actuar como de física atómica, e Stallone a director (que diga-se depois de Rambo 4, deixou muito a desejar). Mas mesmo assim eu fui fã de todos eles e perdia tardes inteiras na casa dos meus avós a ver uma porrada de filmes só de "tiros, bombas e murros nas trombas".

Qual não é a minha surpresa ao sair da sessão de cinema com um sorriso nos lábios e a lembrar-me de como, numa era onde o digital e estrelas fabricadas em meses (Orlando Bloom esta é para ti! Que é feitp de ti agora moço?) vem os velhotes mostrar que não estão assim tão velhos e os artistas de ringue mostrar que até sabem alguma física atómica?!

O filme é um hino aos velhos filmes de acção dos anos 80 e 90 e não perde em nada em relação aos de hoje. Alguns chamam-lhe homenagem, outros uma revisão do género, eu chamo-lhe PUTA QUE PARIU EXCELENTE!!!

Filme para homens a sério com testosterona a transbordar a cada minuto. Se querem filme para levar a namorada esqueçam, a menos que já se conheçam à mais de 10 anos, fora disso, este é um filme para homens de barba rija e gargalhadas bem altas. Adorei!!!

Excelentes notícias para todos os fãs de comics e bons filmes de acção...

Na última edição do Comic-Con (evento ligado a todo o Universo dos comics realizado todos os anos em San Diego, CA) finalmente ficamos a saber quem vão ser os actores e actrizes que irão participar no filme da Marvel comics, Os Vingadores. Para que não haja enganos aqui está a lista:

Chris Evans (Tocha Humana nos filmes Quarteto Fantástico) é Capitão América. Robert Downey Jr. (Também Sherlock Holmes no filme de Guy Ritchie) é Homem de Ferro. Chris Hemsworth vai fazer papel de Thor (com um filme sobre as suas origens previsto ainda para 2011). Mark Ruffalo terá a difícil tarefa de chegar aos calcanhares de Eric Bana e Edward Norton interpretando Hulk. Jeremy Renner é a versão melhorada de Hawkeye (esperemos que se inspirem na versão de Joe Mad). Scarlett Johansson volta como Viúva Negra também com o seu chefe, e líder da Shiel, Nick Fury da responsabilidade de Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction).

Para o final fica o realizador Joss Whedon, director também do bem humorado filme de Sci-Fi "Serenity" que teve boa aceitação pelos fãs da série.

Será um casting de estrelas e um realizador pouco testado a melhor opção para este filme? Temos de esperar por 2012 para saber. Bom ou mau... Estou lá batido para o ver claro!

Vacations so far...

Hya people!

So how are your vacations going?! Since I've started mine I can't say I've had a pretty intense life. Some small family trips for birthdays and that's pretty much the most I have done soo far. No getaway weekends, no three days in maiorca, it's been pretty quiet for me these days.

College is also over and I've had some time to think abaout what I'm gonna do with my life. My conclusions so far?!... I have no idea! LOL!

I was hoping that my intership would come trough but i guess it's just not going to happend. It's sad but at the same time it gives me some leverage as to what I want to do with my life. I have worked on many areas of expertise: Art, Communications, Administration, Management, Security, even Sports but nothing has really worked out so far. I'm trying to keep myself positive and think of only "happy" things that might come up but I'm getting to that point in my life when I just want to settle down.

Yes, I know it's the cliché thing to say but it's true! I want (better) I need to change my life but not for just some three or six months. I need some long time change so I can go on with my life. But, given the economical period we're having, it's not gonna be easy.

Oh well! The weather is fine and the beach has been awesome. Even though I am still single, it's nice and it beats working on the blazing sun. Maybe by the end of the month something will turn up (or not) either way I gotta keep trying right?!

They say "good things come to those who wait" (and keep trying) so that's what I'm gonna do. Keep searching my blog for new posts and news ok? Until then have yourselves a very nice vacations.

Dante's Inferno & Halo Legends Anime

There is a reason why I decided to review these two films in one post, mainly because they are both a compile of short-films by oriental studios inspired by a videogame. I thing this is a good way to make more with the same core material but I'm not shore of the results. First off...

Halo Legends

Halo Legends DVD Cover - Special Edition

Inspired by the Halo Games by Bungie, with more or less expansions, this is a great anime for all anime fans. I admit I didn't know the universe of Halo and was always intrigued by the all buzz about it. After seing the films I must admit the script is a very well writen one but the universe doesn't have enough to keep me going. There are three races who are fighting eatch other for whatever reason but there is no depth to there call to war. Basically they fight for the same lame reasons as a bad sci-fi movie... they just don't like humans and humans have to defend themselves over and over.

I was however happy to know the story of master chief and of the spartan program but I think they could have exploy it more. And now for...

Dante's Inferno

I must admit that this was a lot more to my liking. The Dantes Inferno universe, by EA (Electronic Arts) is one we are familiar with. The nine circles of Hell, Lucifer, Demons and one big kick ass Hero. Because the universe concentrates more on one character, the story has more flow and action to it. And (let's face it) you get to see a human fight with the lord of Hell himself... How cool is that!?

So there you are. If your an anime/manga fan you'll enjoy them both (like I did) but if you have to chose just one, I advice you to Dante's Inferno because the story is more film-like and the has a lot more action.

Halo Legends gets a 4 out of 5 | Dante's Infeno 5 out 5... That's my ruling!

Introspectivo...

Desde que soube a minha última nota da faculdade que fiquei com algum tempo para pensar em tudo o que me aconteceu durante os meus três anos no ensino superior. Não só a nível académico-profissional mas também, e principalmente, na minha vida pessoal...

Estes 3 anos tiveram um grande impacto em mim. Faleceu o meu avô, nasceu o meu sobrinho, fiz amizades, perdi outras, aprendi a confiar mais, mas também a duvidar menos de mim e das minhas capacidades. Conheci uma outra realidade, acabei abandonado mas, mesmo assim, consegui elevar-me acima disso e chegar ao meu objectivo.

Desde que comecei a pensar "tentar" a faculdade que o meu objectivo foi um único só... ter uma licenciatura. Nunca pensei em ganhar amizades, entrar no "espírito académico" (seja lá o que isso for) tentar arranjar desculpas para me divertir, nada disso! Aquilo que eu queria era graduar-me, e assim consegui. Mas... a que preço?

Não falo de valores monetários. De quanto 'custa' andar no ensino superior. Eu ainda assim tive a sorte de ter entrado para uma instituição pública, mesmo assim os custos são elevados: transportes, alimentações, propinas, material para trabalhos, fotocópias (muitas fotocópias)... tudo isso é uma pequena fortuna no final de cada ano, mas não se trata desse preço que escrevo.

Digo antes o facto de ter sacrificado de pessoas que considerava importantes para chegar ao fim de algo como isto. Durante os anos de faculdade não posso dizer que fui sempre uma pessoa muito presente. Ia às aulas e fazia os trabalhos, tive com os meus colegas mas nunca me senti integrado com eles, além disso existiam (e existem) pessoas às quais eu podia (e devia) ter dado mais atenção, mais companhia, mais... interesse digamos assim. Mas eu sempre senti que entre isso e sacrificar a faculdade nunca hesitei em optar pela segunda por achar a mais fiável. Os estudos tiveram de vir sempre primeiro e nunca pensei diferente... até agora.

Hoje olho para trás com nostalgia e algum remorso ou saudade. Talvez não devesse ter me fechado como fechei, talvez devesse ter estendido a mão mais vezes, talvez devesse ter dito obrigado mais vezes, talvez devesse ter sido diferente para agora as coisas também serem diferentes, não sei... Nunca me preocupei com isso até agora que o meu objectivo está comprido.

Mas (como alguém me disse) "as coisas são como são" e não se podem alterar só porque nós preferíamos que fossem diferentes, mas fica sempre a sensação que talvez, no final das aulas, dos estudos, dos trabalhos, das conversas, dos risos, das lágrimas, dos nervos, das surpresas e das desilusões, houvesse algo mais dos que só uma linha no currículo a dizer... licenciado.

Olá pessoal!

Pois é, tudo o que começa tem um fim e a faculdade não é excepção... Quando comecei este blog, por causa de uma cadeira na minha faculdade, não fazia ideia do que iriam ser estes três anos de estudo, trabalhos, muito muito stress. Como na altura não tinha grandes ideias para um blog decidi chamar-lhe o que sentia na altura "IRONWILL" (vontade de ferro) para simbolizar toda a minha vontade em acabar esta aventura que foi a faculdade e digo-vos o nome ficou mesmo a matar.

O que é que eu penso da faculdade e do ensino superior em geral? Bem... mehn! Tem os seus pontos bons e menos bons mas a finalidade continua sempre a ser a mesma de sempre, ter um "canudo"! Não me venham com aquelas tangas que a faculdade é amizade, e amigos, e bebedeiras, e borga, e espírito académico, e mais sei lá o quê - garanto que para mim não foi nada disso e para muita gente também não! Para mim as pessoas que dizem que a faculdade são as noites de entretenimento com os colegas, estão a confundir adolescência com faculdade. E o ensino superior é estudo... muito estudo! Mesmo não estando na faculdade que é que acham que o pessoal adolescente anda a fazer?!!? Exactamente o mesmo que o pessoal do ensino superior, mas sem o estudo!

Mas eu adianto-me às questões essenciais... "Porquê o ensino superior? Ainda por cima agora?" (sim porque eu sou mais adulto que adolescente :P)

Bem, meus caros a história começa (como todas as histórias que merecem ser contadas) com uma mulher. Neste caso alguém que me achou digamos... "abaixo" da sua posição social. Na altura admito que a minha situação profissional era mais do que precária. Certos dia estava eu a trabalhar quando dei por mim a pensar "Mas o que é que eu estou aqui a fazer? Eu detesto isto! P**a que p**iu, tenho de mudar de vida!" A minha namorada na altura apoiou-me tanto e ficou tão feliz que me deixou, e eu vi-me sozinho, sem trabalho, sem namoro e com uma decisão a fazer... Ensino superior? Sim ou não? Decidi apostar (visto que também não tinha nada a perder) e 3 anos depois aqui estou!

Mas e a faculdade como foi? Bem... foi assim...

Alunos

Sabem como são os alunos no liceu? Bem na faculdade é igual, só que as notas de admissão são mais altas. Há de tudo... Pessoal que se acha, hipócritas, esfregas, escovas, estudiosos, responsáveis, interesseiros, os que usam lábia melhor e pior, falhados , boazonas e competitivos tal e qual como no liceu. Sabem o que não existe na faculdade? GUNAS (ou melhor não havia) . s
Sabem aquele pessoal que nos tira o dinheiro do almoço, rouba-nos as pastas e cadernos, fica com a caneta dos outros e faz desaparecer telemóveis? Essa gente não existe na faculdade (talvez um nessa categoria mas pronto...) E porquê? Porque é gente pobre, e na faculdade ninguém é pobre! Ou o pai paga ou tem dinheiro por mesada que dá para pagar estudo, alojamento, carro e tudo o resto. Na faculdade quem diz que tem família pobres são aqueles em que os pais dizem que só lhe pagam a faculdade e a mesada e mais nada! (mas há mais do que isso?!) E perguntam: "Então como é que tu estavas lá?" Pois... sabem aquele emprego precário que eu tinha? Pois foi ele que o pagou! :P

Professores

Os professores são, antes de mais, pessoas e como pessoas que são vêm em todos os formatos e feitios. Única diferença... são licenciados à muitos anos! E isso faz de alguns deles donos da razão para além do tempo e eternidade. Não me levem a mal eu tive excelentes professores, pessoas que viram em mim alguém que estava a fazer um esforço brutal para fazer o ensino superior, ajudaram-me, deram-me conselhos, ouviram-me e guiaram-me nas dúvidas que alguns achavam mais básicas (mas que para mim eram terríveis) e a esses fiquei bastante em dívida. Já outros... Não interessa o empenho, interesse, experiências de vida que um aluno (que era o que eu era) tenha, não vêm para além da tabuleta de "não licenciado" que todos nós trazíamos e alguns ainda se orgulhavam de dizer que tinham esse direito. Não entendi essa gente?! São pessoas como nós mas, como as pessoas que conhecemos, não nos damos com todas, é mesmo assim.

Testes e trabalhos

Que dizer sobre testes, exames, trabalhos e avaliações?... Foram imensos! Havia disciplinas em que para as completarmos tive trabalhos, apresentação e exame a outras quatro vertentes. Ridículo? Sim... mas fazer o quê? Tinha três e quatro exames a coisa diferentes para ter uma nota final. Os trabalhos não foram nada de fora deste mundo (era um curso de letras por isso nem tinha de fazer muitos cálculos nem nada) mas davam TRABALHO. Precisei de ler montes (e eu para ler, até à faculdade, era só banda desenhada) compilar, comparar, escrever, organizar tudo em trabalhos escritos com referências e mais sei lá o quê... Uma trabalheira. E só para que saibam eu tive em ciências no liceu e nós NUNCA tínhamos trabalhos (boa vida! :P). Os exames eram menos exigentes, mas também mais stressantes. Basicamente era ler, ler, ler e esperar que alguma coisa ficasse na altura de responder às questões, claro que no final do exame já não me lembrava de nada do que tinha escrito.

Espírito Académico

Bem... eu disse no início que isto era assim a modos uma tanga e eu acho que sim. Não posso falar nos outros cursos mas no que eu fiz (nunca se sabe se farei outro ou mestrado, sei lá...) "se hipocrisia fosse mortal a minha faculdade era uma casa funerária!" (Bem talvez não tando assim... looool!). A ver se nos entendemos... O meu curso tem três vertentes. O que significa que no final do segundo ano os alunos têm de escolher para qual das vertentes querem ir. Como a média conta para cada vertente e tem "peso" para depois escolher o local de estágio por mais "amizade" que exista entre as pessoas existe sempre aquela tensão de ter melhor ou pior nota do que o colega não vá ele ficar à nossa frente na escolha. ATENÇÃO: Não era com todos! Alguns (como aqui o "je") só queriam acabar a faculdade, e nem se importavam muito com notas e estágios e sei lá mais o quê. Mas fiquei muito desiludido (e "fudido" sejamos honestos) quando vi certas atitudes em adolescentes e imagina-los um dia mais tarde a ter o mesmo comportamento com colegas de trabalho em empresas, a trabalharem com aqueles valores já inerentes neles (não tivesse eu já visto o mesmo em empresas e em quadros superiores - o que já de si é grave!). E sabem o pior? Nem precisam daquilo!

Todos os que entram no ensino superior já são deles próprios uns "eleitos", estão acima da média e têm todas as capacidades para vencer tanto a nível académico como profissional, então porque se dedicam a ser assim? Fazem ideia de quantos empregados de bar, de limpeza, segurança, trolhas, atendedores de balcão dariam para poder estar três anos a estudar para ter algo melhor? Mas quem sou eu para julgar? À pois... eu fui um desses seguranças!

Que dizer do ensino superior? Acabou! Está feito! Tentei ser correcto com os meus professores, estive o mais perto que pude dos meus colegas e ajudei-os sempre que pude (e eles a mim é certo). Prince of Persia Movie

If you know Jerry Bruckheimer and the trilogy of Pirates of the Caribbean and (let's face it...) you do. You already know what to expect from this movie... A lot of action, special effects and a real sense of adventure throughout the movie.

For all you people who don´t know, Prince of Persia is based on the videogame from the same name and the story is as basic as any fairy tail. Boy/Man daring hero rescues beautiful princess from the claws of the horrible bad sheik, and that's basically it. Latelly there was a inovation made to the series by the big videogame company UbiSoft that turned the small platform game from the 80's in to a real multiplaform 3D adventure.

So now your wanderig "videogame adptation?... Hum isn't that the same as saying a BAD movie?"

Fear not my friends. Unlike the game/movie adaptations you have seen so far (which basically suck ass) this is a real big time blockbuster adventure. If you want to know how it was imagine the Pirates of the Caribbean but set in an arabian fantasy environment.

I really loved it and absolutely want to see it again. I think it's a really AWESOME movie!

That's right people...

I used to have a facebook, twitter, blog and youtube accounts that where a pain to upgrade all at once. I even use tweetdeck now for some part of that problem but now, thanks to networkedblogs.com they are all in one big network. Facebook network that is!

I really must say that this is a very nice addition to anyone who has a blog but feels that the facebook is not the best way to put things out there. You're not obligated to see this blog but for me is really nice because I'm really a new media guy and am always on the lookout for the next best thing.

Iron Man 2

Did you see the first? Did you like it? Well this one will also blow you away!!!

I really liked this one and was not desapointed there's only one snag... It doesn't surprass the first one. Don't get me wrong he doesn't stick behind either, it's just I was with that felling that it was going to be a lot better (I mean there were TWO iron man's LOL!) but no!

I liked it! It was great! But it wasn't awesome. Maybe it was lack of founding or lack of creativity, not wanting to go that extra mile, but the movie just misses that kick...

Anyway I give it a very good 4 out of 5.

Little HINT: Stay untill all the credits roll... you won't be desapointed! ;)

Clash of the Titans

Oh yeah! Oh double-yeah!! Oh MTF-YEAH!!!

If you haven’t seen this movie It’s your loss, because this movie rocks! I know most people will disagree with me but I must say I enjoyed this movie more than AVATAR, really!

I didn’t have a lot of expectations going to this movie. The whole 3D thing is really getting to me and I thought this was going to be one more boring use of the technology just to make us pay more… Boy was I wrong! Louis Leterrier (the director behind the Incredible Hulk and Transporter) did something that I think most directors could not do. With only 70 million dollar (and I say only because most blockbuster movies now cost 100 million) he provided us with a solid, interesting and fun ride!

I must declare this was the week-end of Greek mythology for me. I just ended God of War on the PSP and I was amazed how much the concept design was really close, and with a tad of Dantes Inferno as well. People tend to not like when video-games come close to the movies but the way I see it they are becoming more and more alike… and I don’t think that’s a bad thing. When you see LOR (that’s Lord of the Rings for all you non fans) nobody criticizes how much is close to the book.

If you can make a movie close to a book, close to a comic, or close to a video game, you only honor the material. Feeding of the creative vibe you know?

Anyways… The movie is a good remake of the hold version of the 80’s and I (for once) was really and utterly surprised. Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson and Ralph Fieenes never saw this one coming!

I give it a 5 out of 5!

Law Abiding Citizen

Hya people!

So this was a really big week on movies so I went to see not one, but two movies… the first was Law abiding citizen. I saw the trailer and though it as really nice, and let’s face it, one man against the system comes right up the (Marvel) Punisher’s alley… eheheh. So was it good nice, or bad?

***Spoiler alert***

This is a nice movie but has a really big problem! Most (if not all) the major scenes in the movie are in the trailer! Yes that’s right, if you’ve seen the trailer, this movie will almost pass you by as a longer version of the same movie and it’s a real shame. The trailer almost sums up the entire movie. How come nobody saw that coming?!

I really enjoyed the movie, the performances by Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx, and it even provides a decent enough double-twist at the end, but if you’re an average movie-goer (and if you’re reading this, you ARE) you’ll figure it out 15 minutes before the end. And that’s a really big shame!

Here’s the spoiler… I mean trailer! :P

I’ll have to to give it (with shame) 3 out of 5!

Solomon Kane

This review is well over doe but I've been so busy I haven't had any time to to do it.

So now is the time...

This is a nice movie... Yes I said nice! It has all the ingredients to be a good movie but it lacks that momentum that all the other great movies have. It has some nice values... A great lead actor, a nice storyline, and even some nice special effects. The problem is that it only has that on a very needed bassis.

There is no BIG fight, no BIG destruction scene, basecly nothing that would make you go WOOOOW! And that's what these small independent projects need, something that those big blockbuster movies, with all those millions of dollars, can provide... something new!

So although it is a nice try it comes short.

Now this is what I'm talking about!

A movie for the "manliest man that ever maned". Remember the whole Mad Max busted up desert end of the world apocalipse one man agaist all crusade? Well... Here it is again!

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying that this is the same thing. Far from it. But the vibe is the same and the rouged hero with a kick your ass to the next millenia attitude is all there. Even though were talking about a beat up Denzel Washington.

The movie only lacks because you can figure out the main plot 15 minutes into the movie and that seems a little bit desapointing. But make no mistake, this is an action movie if ever there was one and I for once will definitly wait in suspence for a DVD version with all the extras.

Warning: Don't take your girlfriend to this movie! This is an absolutly guy action s**t!

Alice in Wonderland by Tim Burton

Hello people!

Yes I know it's been a while since I post anything new on my blog but here we are. This week I have not one, but two reviews. So let's get it going... Alice!

If you know the story of Alice in wonderland as it was written and you know Tim Burton's way of making movies, you may find the movie a little bit dull or even boring, but that is not my opinion of it.

I was expecting the dark humor and monochromatic looks of the whole thing but I was surprised with all the color and vivasity of th universe. It felt to me like one of the old (very old) stories in Jim Henson's Storyteller when I was young... and I enjoyed it a lot!

Maybe it was the Disney side of it, maybe the natural child inside me, but when I watched the movie I felt twelve again. A simple story, great characters, a lot of gags, nice looks and awesome concept design, fantasy is still fantasy in Tim Burton's mind and he makes no attempt to make it real.

Either a bounsing bunny, a desapering cat or a queen of hearts with an attitude, the movie worked fine and I for once came out with a desire to go home and dream of stories of "once upon a time..."

First Squad

I only have one thing to say about this movie. Don't let the trailer fool you!

You may think that you are going to see the new Blood - Last Vampire, or a Koji Morimoto great short like in the Animatrix... but no!

This is a "lesser son from a greater king". The story has some nice points but it bounds on the ridicolous and the animation is something that would put to shame any serious animator by Studio 4ºC. It's slow and the character design doesn't even make the cut.

I saw it because I'm a big fan of animation and anime and I love Studio 4ºC but after Sword of a Stranger and Summer wars I was especting somehing a lot better.

Oh well... The 3D was ok and I was entertained a bit, but very very dissapointed.

Crank 2 and Gamer

There is a good reason why this movies are reviewed together... their both from the same directors and they are both insane. Let me tell you what I mean by that...

It means that when the movies were beyng filmed and edited both directors were on steroids, and I mean big time! The movies are a endless gag of boobs, ass, blood, violence and graphic euphoria.

In the case of Crank 2 the cases is even more escalated... and I loved it! It's like viewing a graphic novel at 100 mph. No stop, no pause, no nothing! All out action from beggining to end. I hope you'll take a look ate them because they involve a new kind of cinema making that could become solid in the future. But be warned... you'll may need a puke bag!

F***ing freaking ass blow your brains out action! Just the way I like it! (",)

Summer Wars

Yes... This a good movie!

Actually, it's a great movie! If you've ever seen the Digimon movie, this universe is similiar but a little bit different. It has all the tremmings for a nice story: boy meets girl, boy loves girl but doen't know how to say it, boy saves world, boy gets girl.

It's a relative simple story but it works fine. And there's a lot of gag's and subtle things that you pic up when you watch the movie.

The animatios is top noch and the characters (in and out of reality) are really good. I watched this movie on a rainy afternoon and it light-up my evening. A "feel good" movie that i really recomend to everyone who loves anime.

I also loved the fact that it was Yosiyuki Sadamoto (Neon Genesis Evangelion) who was responsible for the character design.

The IPad

So.. how do you feel about the new IPad from Apple?

Yeah! I was a bit desapointed as well. It's not that it doesn't work well or anything, but... we (the artist community) we were all expencting something a lot better than a "oversized iphone".

We wanted to make better images, better concepts on the fly, on the go. Just taking a picture with the "pad" and then putting it on photoshop and play with it... Instead, we got that!!!

I think Hitler couldn't have said it better...

So... people are always saying that I complain about my luck or the lack of it, to be precise.

But the way I see it, if you're a 32 year old guy, with no job, no girlfriend, no car (wich is great for the enviroment but shitty for my social life), no friends to hang out and still living in your parents house, you have to assume that something went wrong somewhere in your life. If you're not a complete ass, if you've lost more jobs than you can count, and if you are a decent enough guy, you have to assume that the only reason you haven't made it is because you're just not lucky.

Here's an example...

Today I was suppose to met with a friend of mine from a town nearby. Since I don't have a car and am dependable on public transportation I had to take the train. But to get to the train I had to take the bus. We were hopping to meet around 5pm but there were no trains at that time so we set it for aroud 6pm. There were two trains: one at 5pm and another at 5:20 pm. I was hoping that in the case I lost one I still had the other to compensate... but instead I lost both of them, due to bus delays.

I called my friend and he said "no problem just get the next one". So I had to wait, in the train station, for 40 minutes for the next train. I boarded the train at 6pm and the trip would take around 45 minutes. I send a text-message to my friend and alert him that I was going to arrive at the station XXX (name not important) at 6:45pm so he would come and pick me up... but instead he waited for me at station YYY. When I got out of the train he was nowhere to be found. He called me and said that he was at YYY and I said "but I send you a message saying that I was going to XXX" and I had to wait another 30 minutes for him.

So far it seems only little misunderstandings right? Schedule and name swapping right? Wrong!

At the station I bought a ticket back so I wouldn't have to worry about the time when I came back, only to find that the ticket I bought had to be used before 8:50pm (and I was planning on coming back at 10 or 11pm).

After my frined got there we went staight to the restaurant to get something to eat. But unfortunatly it was karaoke night at this place so we couldn't hear anything either of us was talking about (and I hadn't seen him since november last year so we had a lot to talk). We didn't talk much and tried to go someplace else to catch up on our news.

We were gonna do just that when he got a call that is nephew was ill and he had to take him to the hospital. Of course I wasn't going to say that he couldn' go, I mean I have a nephew of my own... So he said he would take me back to the train station (the YYY this time) and since I already had bought the ticket it wouldn't be any problem.

RememberI was aiming for 5pm, I arrived at 6:45 and waited another 30 minutes, so I had been there only from 7:15pm. The problem was that we arrived at the station at 8:45pm and the train was only at... wait for it... 22:25! Wich meant I was going to have to make more than an hour and a half of absolutely nothing.

My friend apologised and left me, and I waited for the train... I got back to my home town at 23:10.

I must say that during this period my cellphone battery was at red level, so I had no ideia if the thing was going to die on me at any moment.

To make things worse (yes worse!) I recently developed a hearing problem that didn't made me sleep for the entire night, so you can imagine how stressed I was.

To conclude: between 16:30 and 23:10 (around 7 hours) I was with my friend for an hour and a half (that's 1:30) on a noisy restaurant and the rest was filled with bus rides, train rides, and waiting in train stations in the freaking cold. How lucky was that!!!???

I know what you're thinking... "So you had a bad day. That doesn't mean anything! Happends to everybody." and you would be right if this sort of thing didn't happend to me ALL THE TIME!

I have come to get used to this, so that's why when I say that something or another can go wrong, usually... it does!

Next time somebody thinks I'm being a little over the top about not having any luck. I'm just gonna remind him of this story.

Last blog entry of 2009

My friends... My colleges... My people!

Hello and welcome to my last blog entry of 2009. A lot could (and will be) said of this year but first let's go with the numbers shall we? So, this year...

I saw 12 movies,
When to 8 birthday party's (not including family),
Made 7 trips (never going out of the country),
Watched 3 concerts,
Bought 1 watch,
Attended 1 funeral (my gradpa on my fathers side),
Kissed 1 girl (once),
Had absolutly NO sex.

So yes, I can say that it was a very fu**ed up year indeed!

It started pretty rought with all the college work and stuff, and the fact that I just lost my grand-dad, but it got worse trough the middle of the year when my gradparents health condition got even harder, and I had to stand in. I spend one half of the year between college works and trying to keep my friends, and the other half, between college, helping my grandparents and taking care of my nephew. How did I manage to keep it together I really don't know...

Not happy with this, I haven't got any time to date (or found someone to date, for that matter) and, with no sex for over a year, I'm starting to get really depressed.

The only thing that was not a complete fu**up this year was college, wich thankfully is going fine (for now) but not without effort, of course! But this isn't over, because I still got exams next year and it can all go to s**t then... wich eventually it will!

To finish big, I'm going to have the same new year eve I've had in the last thirty years. At home with the family. Again... No party, no friends, no girl, no dancing, no nothing!

And you want to know the fun part?... They're saying 2010 is going to be worse! Worse?!?!? How the f**k can it be any worse??!?!

The only good thing that I can say about 2009 is: THANK GOD IS OVER!!!

Sherlock Holmes - The Movie

Well... This was a nice surprise!

If you know the Sherlock universe, you know that there is more to it than an action flick, and when I knew who the director was going to be I was very appreentive at first.

But I souldn't have been, because the movie is as good as it gets!

No, there's no big CGI, and no, the argument is not an academy award one, but it has that Guy Ritchie feel and, most of all, the dinamic acting of two of hollywood's favorite actors. The scenes where Jude and Robert play as the great duo of detectiving is one of the most hilarious I have ever seen, and they work perfectly in the movie.

I have trouble being surprised at movies because the whole marketing tends to let no space for any out-of-the-ordinary feel. But in this movie nothing prepared me for the roller coster of gag's and comic situations I encountered.

I've read some of the Sherlock Holmes books and I was surprised to see how much of the books is actually in the movie. My hat is of to Guy Ritchie (once again...)

Yes... This is the review you have been wainting for!

Did the movie rise to the ocasion, or did it plunge down on the ground.

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD !!!

First, let me tell you what the movie's about (just in case you have not been on planet earth for the last six months). You're a marine soldier that has won a one way ticket to Pandora, a minning planet in orbit around Jupiter.

And what are they minning for? "Inobtainium" (Yeah!... Like the thing is very hard to get). And what is your porpuse in Pandora? You're part of a cientific experiment that allows you to control, via sinaptic-link, one of the Na'vi (the humanoid figures on the planet) throug the use of an AVATAR. And thats pretty much it...

But what did I think about the movie?

Well... As I was seeing it, a lot of other movies poped in to my mind: Apocalipto, Star Wars, Titanic, Lord of the Rings, Tarzan, and even Final Fantasy - The Spirits Within.

You may not believe it but I think Cameron was actually trying to do remake of the Final Fantasy Movie! Same theme, same drama, same colour pallete, even some of the vehicules look alike, the only difference is that instead of an urban enviroment, we are blessed with a unike luminescence florest that looks (and feels) out of this world!

And that's just it! All that I saw was bits and pieces of other movies glued and packed togheter to look like a very new and elaborated film, wich (I'm sorry to say) it's not!

AVATAR is a good movie, a great movie, but is not an awesome movie. It lacks that expression that makes us say "Hey man!? That really looks like Avatar!" that you see in other movies. Like when you see Star Wars you think 'light sabers, big spaceship fights and the force', when you see the Matrix, well you think 'the matrix', when you see LOR you think' big all out in your face armys clashing', but when you see Avatar you think 'cool 3D and navi'... and that's pretty much it.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Avatar but the fun just isn't there! (I know you are going to hate me for this but...) I can say that 2012 was more entertaining than AVATAR, because it surprised me and took me for a fun ride!

Never the less, it is a mark on cinema just like the Titanic was 15 years ago and for thet, it deserves our credit.

To conclude (because I know the internet doesn't like big texts): The 3D doesn't add anything new to the movie. If it didn't had it, it would still be a good a movie as it is, and believe me, there are others that use a lot more force prespective and "in your face shots" to take credit for the technology. But it is, undouthbly, a plus on the movie experience.

Renaitre

Have I got a suprise for you...

This is one of those presents that you get without even asking for it. Renaitres is one of those Jack-of-all-trades movie, where one guy does all the work and then shares that with the worl. There's been quite some good shorts in the last few years but this one call out the most to me.

It's got all the great appeal of the Fist of the North Star caracters, a little of vampire hunter D and a lot of the blood and violence gore. Right up my way!

One man, one mission... all out action!

The studio that made this is now working on one of the Dante's Inferno animated short. Go chek it out here!

Twilight - New Moon

I'm not putting any poster or trailer in this review and the reason is... This movie does not deserves it!

I love movies, I like action, I like actors, and all the people who make movies. But this, this is a piece of s**t. There is no drama, no action, no nothing. Just two hours (that's right TWO) of absolutly no movie experience.

Maybe i'm just to used to good old soup operas and I think that the movie is just that. A soup opera with teenage vampires and werewolfs. I cannot believe that the media in the US can criticate all the Transformers, the Terminators and the 2012 movies as BAD, and doesn't say one think about THE WORST MOVIE OF THE YEAR!

My opinion... A big zero. Do not go see it! EVER!!!

I know what your thinking: Jim Carrey... Christmas... a lot of CG animation... fun fun fun, right?

No... not quite right!

This, I must admit, was one of my most disapointing movies of the year. Why you ask? Well...

It's not funny, it isn't fun, and it didn't make me laugh has I anticipated. Maybe it was my mistake, because I Know Chistmas Carol story back and forth and I was expecting a lot more, not from Zemeckis, but from Carrey.

The movie looks more like a horros movie than a christmas happy movie. Half the time either your serious or monotonous, but not laughing. After seeing the version from the Muppets and Sir Michael Cane, I think we (the audience) deserved better.

Alas the 3D did some good in the movie but it didn't save it.

So... Movie disaster or disaster movie?

Are you kidding me?!?! I know I'm going to get a lot of heat for this, but to me the movie works fine. It has a lot of action, it's funny, it's fast and - most of all - has some of the best movie shots I have ever seen. History? Well... it's about the mayan legend of the end of the world being in (not as the cristians believed in 2000) but in the year 2012. 21 of December of 2012 to be more exact.

And how will it append you ask?... Who the f**k cares!

The whole movie is just one big excuse for some of the most awesome scenes of utter total destruction. I really enjoyed it, but I'm not sure that it's going to work as well with your old DVD reader whatching it. You'll have to wait for the Blu-ray 50 inch version to fully enjoy it at home. I know I will...

An absolutly 5 out of 5 .

Cencoroll Movie

OMG OMG... OH MY GOD! You have to chek this movie right now!

But first a litlle insight...

This is another one of those one time, one man, powerhouse animation projects that just escapes the control of everything and takes off by itself.

Atsuya Uki nearly singlehandedly written, designed, directed, and animated the first trailer and then got a deal to do a 30 min short with the help of some of the new great animation studios in Japan: Anime Innovation Tokyo and Aniplex.

Like Makoto Shinkai, this awesome Japanese animated science fiction film by manga author Atsuya Uki, is one of those examples that animation some times does not need a big budget studio to make an impact in the movie industry.

I really enjoyed it, althought I have to say that I was hoping for a little more one-on-one battle action. Never the less, the animation, design and concept of the movie looks very original indeed.

I advise anyone how loves japanimation to take a look, and prepare to be very impressed!

Here's a movie that I found surfing on the web.

It looks a lit bit like a cross-over from Casshern, Hero, Ninja Gaiden and it looks awesome. It has great actors on it, but unfortunately it may never be released in the US or Europe for that matter because is just too damn Japanesque.

Oh well... there's always the DVD i guess! I'm really looking forward for this movie because it's been a while since I have seen a big blockbuster movie from the land of the rising sun. And I really enjoy the themes portraited in their movies.

Surrogates - The Movie

Hya people!

I just went do see Surrogates last night and here's what I though of it. It's good but it's not great.

Bruce Willis plays the part of an FBI investigator that, in the near future, will have to investigate a series of homicides link together by the use of surrogates.

But what are surrogates? Well, if you know Ghost in the Shell - by Masamune Shirow - the principle is the same but only the name changes. And that's the problem with this movie, it does not go that extra mile for the universe is in... people use robots as avatars and that's pretty much it!

Still, Bruce does add that nice vibe to it!

New series from ABC: V - The Visitors

I used to love this series back in the 80's. I was still very young at the time but I remenber a scene that schoked wich was when the humans find the true intentions of the alien visitors I'm not goinna spoil the fun for all you lot, but it was pretty awesome).

I like the fact that the good old series are being remade with better tecnology and writting, but I feel a little worried because it may transpire that Hollywood is losing her creative line and just recicliyng old concepts. Either way... I'm gonna hope for the best and have faith in the future (lol... to much geek notion I guess)

Street Fighter 20th Birthday

That's right...

The single most aewsome game ever made enters it's twenty's and what beautiful years it has been.

I'm one of those people who thinks the videogames are the new cultural fabric of our society. First it was books that marked a generation, then movies and TV, but now my friends you must bow down to the awesomeness of the Videogames. And on that note Street Fighter rules as the undisputed king of the gender.

I'm one of he lucky that can say that I am a part of this generation. I was 12 when I played my first Street Fighter (even dough I should be 16 to enter an arcade) and it marked my entire life.

I love it, breathe it, and rule my self a lot by that influence, both artistically as well as personally. And am still a eager fan of the game.

Congrats to all who share the same felling as me... "Here comes a new challenger"

What's the deal with the Obama Nobel Peace Prize?!

Don't get me wrong, because I love the man and I think that, in the future, he will become one of the greatest American presidents of all times. But given him an award for something that he asn't done yet, I just think is to soon for that.

I realize that there's a lot of pressure in the media, and in the powers to capitalize on the new president but this prize does nothing to the image of Obama except maybe put in in a position of doubt toward's the public.

He's sending more troops to Afganistan, he's not backing fast enough from Iraq, and he has an inpending war with Iran... and he get's a Nobel prize? for peace? I just don't get that.

I hope he doesn't screw this one up, or the media will eat him alive.

IGoogle is the sh*t!

I know i'm probably gonna get a lot of heat over this but man I'm hooked in the Igoogle feature. Instead of havng to log in a million times I put all my stuff in the board and voil?... instant bliss.

It's awesome, easy, acessible, and a lot less time consuming. I love it and recommend it to everyone.

That is if your a web-crazy kind of guy... wich I am.

.hack//G.U. - Trilogy Movie

This is one of the greatest movies of anime 3D I have ever seen. And a great adptacion from the universe of games to animation movies. Tecnally is not as good as Applessed EX Machina, but in termes of movie layout and character design this one takes the cake.

I got to say first that this is a compilation of the three movies that where available when the games came out. It's fast, it's visual and it's fun. All the great attributes you're looking for. I advise any and all new generation anime fans to take a very good look.

My opinion a must see with 5 out of 5

Things I wanna ear

1) "Later"

I can't stand this word! When somebody tells me "I'll do that later" or "I'll call you later" or "Well see that later", it usually means "IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN". I hate people always with the 'later' this or 'later' that. Say "I'll do that this afternoon" or "I'll call you tomorrow" or " Well see that has soon has I have an answer from the dealer"... something. And then you better stick to it, because otherwise people will tend to think that you can't and assume anything and just stop asking for your advice or help. Remember, although many people don't say it, "your word is your bond".

2) "I don't/didn't have time"

This usually happens after they use the first I hate. The day has 24 hours, every hour has 60 minutes, I handle my affairs, and you didn't because you "didn't have time"? Why don't these people just grow a pair and say "I don't WANT TO do it". It would be simple and it would be TRUE. I'm not saying there wouldn't be an argument, but at least we would know who to count on and who not.

3) "Relax" or "Take it easy"

This is the expression users from the previous two "things I hate to ear" use most. After causing all sorts of trouble, they TELL me to "relax". Well, I CAN'T! Because YOU did not help me "relax". YOU promised me something and then you didn't deliver. So, I'm sorry, but I WON'T "relax" and I won't "take it easy".

2) I'm sorry

Not "sorry", that just sounds fake. If you can't deliver or just screw up, this is what you must say. It probably won't save you from being chewed down, but at least they might be lenient to you.

3) Please

Is it so hard to say this word? Don't say "get me this", "go get that", "jump", "roll over" or "play dead". We are not animals, and oddly enough we do have self-estime and respect. Just use "please" before every request and things will go a lot smoothly.

4) Excuse me

Not "Excuuuuse me!". Just use it like "please" you know, and I can almost guarantee that people will see you with better eyes.

In conclusion, if despite all you efforts people treat you bad, it may not give you the right to be has bad or worst then them, but at least you tried. I slander and I curse like everybody else, I just don't make a habit of it... So don't over do it or you may turn into a JACKASS!

First week of collegue

AAAAAAAHHH!!!

A faculdade este ano acho que me vai matar. Com tantos trabalhos e testes, não sei como vou aguentar. Este é, supostamente, o meu último ano de licenciatura, por isso estou ainda mais stressado. Dizem que isto é sofrer por antecipação, mas, até eu ter o diploma na minha mão, não vai haver descanso.

Desejem-me sorte... bem que vou precisar!

Marvel Vs Disney

A notícia caiu como uma bomba.

A Marvel fui comprada pela Disney pela módica quantia de 4 mil milhões de dólares... (À pois é, mai nada!) Um excelente negócio de ambas as partes. Dinheiro e financiamento por parte de Disney, novos artistas e 7000 novos super-heróis por parte da Marvel.

Joe Quesada, editor da Marvel, diz que a empresa continuará a ter completa autonomia criativa, como já se tinha verificado no caso da Pixar, mas os fãs é que não gostaram muito da ideia de ter Homem-Aranha e Mickey Mouse sentados lado a lado.

Muito machos os fãs da Marvel. Pequena Sereia é coisa de meninas! Lool...

Inglourious Basterds

Oi pessoal!

Depois de um verão recheado de filmes de grande orçamento, cheios de efeitos e com toda a massa publicitária atrás... experimentei virar as minhas para lago diferente. Mas será que a nova "obra-prima" de Quentin Tarantino correspondeu às expectativas? Bem... Nem por isso!

Digamos que a ideia do filme está completamente chapada no trailer, infelizmente, se estão à espera da dinâmica de Kill Bill, ou a inteligência de Pulp Fiction, ou até a comédia negra habitual... desenganem-se! O filme é demasiado longo, lento e monótono. Sim, tem a marca de Tarantino, mas é um primo afastado do que ele já fez em outros filmes.

Podia ter centrado o filme muito mais no grupo dos Basterds (coisa que não acontece, desculpem) e tentado espremer aí o "sumo" do filme. Não o faz e o filme entra em divagações sobre a "nova vertente cinematográfica nazi", perdendo assim um pouco o rumo.

O que salva o filme é actuação do poliglota vilão alemão... impressionante a facilidade como o actor consegue interpretar em quatro línguas diferentes na perfeição.

Hello people! Yes, now I'm going to start to write in english as well.

So I went to see the new movie of Quentin Tarantino and what did I thought of it?... It's good but it's not great!

Tarantino made the mistake of putting almost all the movie in the trailer (the good parts that is) so there was very little for me to discover when i saw it. It's not as funny or near as inteligent as is other movies. Never the less, it has a brilliant perfomance by the multi-language vilain nazi... Impressive!

GI Joe - Rise of the Cobra

Oi pessoal!

As férias continuam com muita praia e passeios à mistura, mas existe sempre tempo para ir ao cinema. Desta vez, um filme mesmo ao meu estilo... GI Joe - Rise of the Cobra.

Stephen Summers, director da saga da Mumia e também Van Hellsing, volta aos blockbusters de verão com esta "bomba" de filme. Não sei até que ponto conhecem o universo de GI Joe (que em Portugal começaram por se chamar Action Force e do qual ainda guardo o meu Snake Eyes) mas também não tem nada que saber.

O filme é baseado nos bonecos da Hasbro, mais populares nas décadas de 80 e 90 (onde isso já lá vai...) e o argumento é mesmo ao jeito de qualquer criança de 10 anos, isto é, temos de um lado os "bons" Joe's, defensores do bem e da maneira de ser americana, e de outro lado temos os "maus" Cobra, defensores do mesmo idela capitalista americano mas com sotaque diferente e uma pitada de fanatismo hitleriano. Cada uma das faces tem um arsenal descomunal de material e homens (dos quais nós nunca iremos saber de onde vêm) e enfrentam-se em combates de fazer inveja ao próprio Lucas (leia-se George Lucas - Star Wars, claro!)

Imaginem que vos dão todos os brinquedos possíveis dos GI Joe e depois vocês tem de se entreter durante umas duas horas com eles... bem o filme é isso mesmo. Qual argumento, qual ritmo, qual intriga, qual quê! É sempre a bombardear o ecrã com efeitos especiais a torto e a direito durante o filme todo e mais nada... E para mim funciona perfeitamente!

Um concelho: Levem muitas pipocas!

Feliz Aniversário (NOT) !!!

Nem sei o que dizer pessoal, acabo de ter um dos piores aniversários de sempre! Não ninguém morreu, nem ninguém ficou doente (... mas ainda pode ser que fiquem).

Acho que tudo começou quando eu nasci e o meu pai não estava lá para me receber (sim, é verdade... o período de férias tem destas coisas), mais tarde com 7 ou 8 anos esqueceram-se que eu fazia anos e, a partir daí, a coisa não tem melhorado ao longo dos anos... E desta vez foi de loucos!

Primeiro, ninguém me falou em fazer festa nenhuma e, por mais que eu tentasse, parecia que ninguém estava disponível para fazer nada. Como não conseguia contactar com ninguém, desmarquei a coisa toda e disse que este ano (à imagem de todos os outros) não ia fazer festa de aniversário.

Veio tudo a correr, a dizer que andava super ocupado, e que não podiam estar cá no meu dia de anos... Só para 2 dias depois darem uma das maiores festas de anos a uma amiga comum. WHAT THE F**K?!?!?!

Então como é cara**o?!?! Ninguém tem tempo, ninguém pode e dois dias depois fazem uma festa com tudo incluído?!?! Montam cenário, cantam parabéns, trazem bolo e eu tenho um de "calendário"? Ainda, feito burro, levo-o à festa à espera que escrevam todos uma dedicatória, só para ouvir (mais uma vez) que ninguém tem tempo, que tem de ir embora e que a caneta não serve? Gostei principalmente da frase "depois fazemos isso!", o que na verdade quer dizer "Nunca mais me vou lembrar dessa cena!" Que m***a de anos!!!

Se era para isto, mais valia ter ido para fora e passar a semana toda na praia a beber refrescantes com empregadas de saia curta. Estou triste, magoado, desiludido e mais do que tudo fu**do!!!

Em todas as festas de anos, eu fui (e sou) uma das pessoas mais interessadas no pessoal, ajudo em tudo nas festas: a montar o palco, faço de palhaço, levo os adereços... se for preciso faço o pino para o pessoal se sentir bem. Pena que eu não possa dizer o mesmo do resto do pessoal, e eu já me contentava com apenas uma boa amiga(o) que se lembrasse, mas até isso é difícil!

Mas eu sei que a culpa é minha... se eu tivesse marcado antes, se tivesse avisado com tempo, se tivesse falado de alguma coisa, sabem qual era a resposta? "És uma pessoa muito especial e eu adorava ir à tua festa, mas não posso porque interfere na minha vida pessoal e (basicamente) tu não és importante o suficiente!!!"

Com amigos assim... quem precisa de inimigos!

Talvez eu esteja a interpretar mal as coisas e esteja errado em relação às intenções dos meus colegas, ou simplesmente eu dou demasiada importância aos meus amigos e precisava mesmo do apoio deles nesta altura, seja como for... a ferida está feita e vai demorar a curar!

Oi pessoal!

Tive algum tempo livre e estive a fazer um "lifting" ao meu blog. Já estava a demorar e levou-me algum tempo a tratar de tudo mas finalmente, está acabado!

Se visitarem a nova secção de links irão também encontrar umas pequenas alterações no meu avatar e imagem de entrada no portfolio. Esta nova identidade, foi toda elaborada em Flash e Photoshop e é completamente da minha autoria, por isso, nem tentem copiar... Lanço-vos uma maldição daquelas que nem a bruxa vos cura!

Continuo a curtir a praia, o bom tempo e as férias, mas não me esqueço de dar as novidades.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Ou como eu gosto de lhe chamar "Morangos com Açúcar versão Hogwarts".

Bem meus amigos, finalmente fui ver este filme. Digo finalmente porque só foi no Domingo vê-lo e não na quinta-feira de estreia, o que para mim (sendo o cinéfilo que sou) é um crime!

Mas vamos ao filme. Valeu a pena a espera? Foi necessário o adiamento do passado Natal para este verão para ver este filme? Terá o filme de quase três horas valido pela sua história, acção e efeitos?... a resposta meus amigos é não!

Talvez o filme também não tenha tido sorte, já que saiu depois de outros blockbusters de Verão, mas a verdade é que fica muito aquém da concorrência. Tem um argumento demasiado adolescente, com amores e disabores, não tem um climax forte (o que é imperdoável) e é demasiado longo.

Atenção Spoilers:

O filme basicamente apresenta 2 ou 3 "evoluções" (se é q s podem chamar isso) em relação às personagens (sempre relacinado com que anda com quem), mas na luta contra Voldemort (que nem sequer aparece no filme) apesar de morrer (ou não...) uma personagem, fica quase tudo na mesma e nem sequer se pode chamar uma morte dramática ou heróica.

Depois de um filme onde Dumbledor e Voldemort tem um combate titânico, onde existe uma enorme batanha de feiticeiros que mais parece uma batalha de super heróis, este filme falha redondamente no seguimento, e pelo facto de ter um atraso de 7 meses ainda decepciona mais o público, para não falar dos fãs.

The Hunt for Gollum

Quem é que daqui é fã do Senhor dos Anéis? Melhor... Quem é que daqui é GRANDE fã do Senhor dos Anéis?

Se és dos que está ao berros ao ecrã a dizer "EEEEEEEEUUUUUUUUUUUU!", este filme é para ti. Não, não se trata do novo filme Hobbit , a ser feito em duas partes por Guillermo del Toro e produzido pelo grande Peter Jackson.

Este filme é feito inteiramente por fãs e dedicado a todos os fãs da maior história alguma vez criada (sim, eu também sou um grande fã da saga). Para quem está dentro do tema existe uma parte da história que não se encontra bem elaborada, nem em livro, nem em filme. Quando Gandalf fala a Frodo e lhe diz no ínicio do primeiro filme "Procurei em todo lado pela criatura Gollum, mas perdi-lhe o rasto e temo o pior", bem... é dessa parte que este pequeno filme trata.

Mas porquê tanto alarido com este fan based movie?... É que o filme está espéctacular. Imaginem uma grande produção da BBC e está melhor. Até o actor que faz de Aragorn lida com o papel lindamente.

A sério, vejam, apreciem, e acreditem que não vão ficar desapontados. Para aguçar apetites aqui fica o trailer.
